Traditional knowledge isn’t a museum piece

Exploring traditional plant knowledge is exciting. However, it’s important to respect it by validating and testing it in your own life. The ancestors were flawed as are modern humans.

Their knowledge was contextual and rooted in a specific time and place.

This knowledge came from the same process; repeated personal encounters, careful observation, and a willingness to let go.

If personal experience shows something different from accepted norms, discard it. Knowledge isn’t a museum piece.

Traditional ecological knowledge is not an end point; it is a process, a continuum.

What plant knowledge have you accepted without questioning instead of exploring it?

Most of my work goes to newsletter subscribers only. When you know some plants, Domei comes next.

A simple, quiet practice built around giving one plant your full attention without an app or a cushion or the need for a belief system. Some call it 'zen in work boots'.

If you seek a deeper relationship with plants, and a desire for kinship with the living world, sign up today. Arrives in your inbox every Thursday at 8am.
